The psychologist's activities

In our hospice there are currently two psychologists who support our charges and their families. Additionally, in specific situations they cooperate with various specialists. We adopt specific opinions, diagnose children for their pace of development and run neuropsychological tests.

The basic tasks of our psychologists include:

  • regular, constant assistance and individual cooperation with the families in need of psychological help, support for the parents and for the siblings of the sick child
  • regular inidivual meetings with the bereaved families - helping them go through the mourning after their child's passing
  • conducting support group meetings for the bereaved families
  • if need arises - directing our patients to other medical care units and specialists such as psychiatrists or residential treatment facilities
  • exchange of information between the psychologists and other employees of the hospice in order to increase both efficiency and quality of our work
  • psychological office hours
  • reports on troublesome behaviour of the charges and their families.
